Few places inspire the intrepid traveler like the Himalaya—the quintessence of which is embodied in the near-mythical kingdom of Bhutan.  In a world bereft of stillness that’s characterized by flashing neon signs, Bhutan commands a quiet presence: its siren call—a whisper—is barely audible at all. 

Listen closely; you will hear it. A whistle through the trees, which contribute to Bhutan’s standing as the only carbon negative country in the world. A prayer chant in the Tiger’s Nest, that hearkens to the mantra of mindfulness which guides the kingdom’s policies. The sound of smiles, which characterize conversation, interaction, and intention in a land that measures its quality of life by Gross National Happiness.
